Curiosity killed the cat, right?

Questions, you could have done without:

1. 'Can I see your Badge?'
2. 'I called the Police two weeks ago about my garden fence being hit by a football, why didn't you come down and take a look?'
3. 'Are you old enough to be a cop?'
4. 'Shouldn't you be at school?'
5. 'Shouldn't you be out catching real criminals?'
6. 'Can I borrow your hat?'
7. 'Can you show me your handcuffs?'
8. 'If I swear will you arrest me?'
9. 'Does your Stick light up, and make noises?'

Every single one of the above questions has been asked of you while you were on duty, it's hard to believe, but it's true.

In an ideal world, your answers would be:

1. 'No you can't, but you can get one for yourself from Wilko's.'
2. 'Was your garden fence broken? No, alright. Don't waste my time. I'm not a gardener, and I'm not wearing a red apron with 'B & Q' stamped on it!'
3. 'No I'm not old enough to be a cop; I almost slipped under the radar. I'm really twelve years old and they only let me in so they could say they are diverse when it comes to age.'
4. 'Yes I should be at school, but they have let me out on day release to earn some money.' Or 'Shouldn't you be in an old people's home?'
5. 'Yes, but you are being an idiot, therefore stopping me from doing that.'
6. 'Only if I can borrow your bra.'
7. 'Yes, if you show me your thong.'
8. 'I'll arrest you if you talk again, so shut up and go away.'
9. 'Make noises? No. But it lights up, especially when I put a glow in the dark condom over it.'

If only you lived in an ideal world, people would be able to leave their own homes without being fearful for their safety, men who hurt women would be strung up by their balls and Cheryl Tweedy would be your wife.

As Shakespeare once wrote:

"To sleep, perchance to dream-ay, there's the rub."

Taking a stand, a brave man.

http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2006390293,00.html

Peter Woodham's girlfriend was taunted, his child frightened and his property vandalised. He was stabbed in the neck, slashed across the face and then months later he was shot in the chest. All of this for taking a stand against the parasites that seem to have gripped this country's legal system by the scruff of the neck. He was a truly brave man, too many people stand by and do nothing in this day and age, but can anyone blame them when this is what happens when someone does the right thing, when a person takes a stand.

You hope and pray, that when the person who did this is caught, whatever age they may be, be they ten or eighteen, that they are put into a cold and dark place for the rest of time, with only bread and water and a hole in the floor for a lavatory.

That's optimistic though, in today's pathetic excuse for a 'justice system' they will most likely get five years in jail, with an Xbox and a wide screen TV, while the loved ones of their victim will get nothing, not even a sense that justice has prevailed.

A right to live, like anyone else?

'Human life: This is any living entity that has DNA from the species homosapiens. This includes an ovum, spermatozoon, zygote, embryo, fetus, newborn.'

A woman walks into a hospital; she says she wants to kill her child. She wants to stop her child from breathing, from dreaming, from living. There is one reason why she can do this; the one reason it is legal is that the child is still inside of her. Should this really be legal?

A young woman walks in the room, she sits next to you. She is beautiful, long black hair, bright blue eyes, a bright smile and a shy manner. Over the next few weeks, she sits by you in every lecture; she talks to you, smiling and laughing, she is happy with her life, she loves her life. She's smart, polite and has a beautiful soft voice. Thankfully this woman was born; her mother didn't decide to kill her before she took a breath in the world. Her mother and father are proud of her; she's making her way in the world and doing well. It is a pleasure to see.

Abortion terminates a human life, is that murder? You believe it is.

There are alternatives to abortion, one being adoption. There are couples out there who cannot have children, they desperately want to have a child but cannot conceive. It is selfish for a person to abort, to kill a child that could be loved, cared for and given a great life by someone else.

A few facts about abortion:

1. The laws of the United States do not acknowledge the right a father to stop the abortion of his own child.
2. Number of abortions per year: Approximately 46 Million
3. Number of abortions per day: 100,000
4. Worldwide, the lifetime average is about 1 abortion per woman.

Have a think about that, innocent lives taken away before they ever got the chance to live their life, this cannot be right.

Harm's way, worth it?

You’re standing in the custody suite late on in the evening, keeping an eye on a young lad who was arrested by a colleague for Criminal Damage to a window. This young lad is a nice guy, no trouble and willing to do what he is told, he likes the fact that you are young. He talks about Girl Bands and how he would love to do things with Dannii Minogue and her sister Kylie, lovely, you can agree with him on that one.

Suddenly the ear piece perks up, alot of shouting and commotion comes over the radio, you know what it is, the orange emergency button has been pressed, another Officer is in grave danger. Police Officers shout up from everywhere, even one from another division says they are on their way to assist. As the situation slows down, unit’s going to assist are informed that they are not needed, that the situation is under control. Two officers have been assaulted; a man is under arrest and is being brought down to the custody suite, the custody suite where you are.

Ten minutes later he arrives, he’s red in the face, he’s crying and his breaths are heavy. Your partner for the shift tells you to stand next to this guy, while the Officers who brought him in talk with the Custody staff. It’s real, this is no longer a game, this guy could seriously hurt you if he put his mind to it, he’s already injured two officers, this plays on your mind as you watch him. He starts to tense up, he’s huffing and puffing, clenching his fists and staring you in the face.

You know that if he jumps you, you won’t stand a chance, one on one, his handcuffs as his weapons, with his rage, he’d paint the walls with you. You won’t have time to reach your ASP, if you deployed your CS everyone would be affected and he could run amuck. The only thing you could do would be to fight with him, until Officers came to assist. You tell him to calm down; to say you’re apprehensive is an understatement, you try and stop it from showing, these guys can smell fear, and they can use it to their advantage. In a flash it is all over, he’s placed into a cell and your partner tells you that you did a good job, for a first timer.

At the end of your shift you go home, thinking about how you have only done this once. Regular Officers do it on a daily basis; what you have done today is nothing when compared to what they do. The guy will be let out in the morning, the woman he assaulted most likely won’t want to take it any further, and it’ll just be another NFA.

A question plays on your mind, was it worth it?

'You took evasive action, almost to no avail.'

Many people despise speed cameras, they see them as a money making device for the government. You happen to agree with one of their sentiments, the money making part. Personally you think that the speed cameras should just give out points to those who speed, forget the fine; just put the points on the speeder's license. Then the 'money making' point would be on a hiding to nothing.

There is a problem with speed cameras however; they do not catch the drivers on mobile phones, the drivers who drive dangerously, carelessly and inconsiderately. The driver's who pull out on people without looking (see below), the drivers who accelerate on their fellow motorists who are overtaking them, the road rage incidents and many more problems.

An incident happened to you a few weeks ago, one that will never be sorted out, or at least not as you know it. You were traveling down a dual carriageway at approximately 70 mph, overtaking vehicles safely and according to the Highway Code. As you were about to overtake a people carrier it pulled out on you, no warning and no signal. You took evasive action, almost to no avail, but managed to bring your car down to a slow speed as not to crash into the vehicle. Later on one of your passengers told you that the woman driving the people carrier was actually leaning over into the back and shouting at her children, or something to the same effect.

You were doing something perfectly legal and safe, and this motorist made it dangerous. She can continue doing this; unchecked and unpunished, until one day she may cause an accident or a death.

The only way to stop these people is to put more Police on the roads, not to put up more speed cameras. They punish speeders and rightly so, but not dangerous, inconsiderate and careless drivers.
