Badge of Honour?

Anti Social Behaviour Orders are not in place to inform the criminal that his/her behaviour is wrong, the law already does that. They are there to increase the punishment if the offences are committed again.

For example if a person shouts abuse at people in the street, it could constitute a Section 5 Public Order Offence, the punishment for that would be very light. However if this said person was breaching an Anti Social Behaviour Order, they could be sent to prison, all be it for a short time.

In the area where you live quite a few Anti Social Behaviour Orders have been given to out. Now people would think that this would stop the little pieces of excrement from actually committing crimes, guess again. They see their ASBO as a medal, as notoriety.

If you had your way, when a smite breached his or her ASBO, they would be put in front of a water cannon, at very close range, just wearing their underwear, and then of course the victim would then operate it at their discretion. A little harsh some may say, but tell that to the people who have had their:

Car Vandalised
Windows broken
Sense of security taken away in their own homes
Excrement deposited in their kitchen sinks.

A recent study showed that Britain’s Youth are the worst in Europe, is it any surprise when the punishments for behaving like shit are so lenient they may as well not exist?

some-one sounds a bit despondant.have the little s.... got you down this weekend throwing eggs etc etc.the problem is that the police are not in control of the streets in some areas and no matter how many high visibility pcsos are about the little s.... have no fear or respect for anything or anybody and often no hope. the police need to be armed with tasar guns and be able to use them on such problem children liberally. you are right joe the punishment does not fit the crime at all and it will get worse rather than better as the prisons are full and most of these no hopers have no guidance care or love from parents whose joint iq is often lower than 20.keep your pecker up joe and stay safe j x

Its true that there is just a massive lack of respect, also true that the youth do not have respect for the PCSOs, I have heard them say, 'you can't touch me, you're not a real copper'......Must be disheartening for them, it can't be an easy job to do sometimes. I don't know what the answer is to anti-social behaviour or the lack of respect but I absolutely agree that the punishments need to be more fitting and faster.

We've got this problem in the neighbourhood. Egg flinging, stalking people round the place. People with comfortable houses are seen as rich culprits, which they simply aren't. There's no question that a new future criminality is being created. But do the police hierarchy want to know. They do not, simply cannot be bothered, and dump the responsibility elsewhere, where police officers aren't given the means to deal with it. Well said, we're all sick of it.

It's true, and unfortunately there is nothing short of a long spell locked in a cell that's gonna convince the brats they're doing wrong.

Of course, they may just come and then start declaring 'I spent 6 hours in a cell, I'm 'arder than you!!'

Cheers for the link; I'll post one on to your blog now.
