Some people.

Some people just have a sign painted on their front saying: 'I'm beautiful, I know it, you know it and you should bow to me!'

You're a tolerant guy, no one will deny that, and you know that not a lot annoys you. But one thing that does is people who think they are above the law, they think they are better than everyone else and that they answer to no one. You try to reason with them and let them know that you are only doing a job or being who you are, but they don't want to listen and they don't want to change.

The woman who goes to a nightclub wearing just a short skirt and a low cut top, flirts with men all night long and then turns them down with an insult or a cheap jibe. The male driver on the mobile phone, chatting away while he drives not realising that two minutes down the road he might cause a fatal traffic accident and kill a young mother or a child.

Granted those two aren't in the same class of criminal, but they both need to change. You can only do your best, you are usually the one left picking up the pieces after something goes drastically wrong. But have no fear, someone's got to do it, it just happens to be you.

Women: A Tribute

You walk down the street and on average fifty percent of the people who walk towards you will be of the female species. Some are beautiful and some make you want to take a vow of celibacy for the rest of your natural life. You know to think that is wrong and immoral, but you think it anyway, because frankly you can't help it.

As they walk by you will either say to yourself: 'Would' or 'Wouldn't'. You follow some of them with your eyes as they walk past, taking a mental photo of their amazing backsides and imprinting it on your memory.

The reason you do this is not really clear to you, or anyone else. Maybe it's the way they walk, wiggle their hips, wear their clothes, smile at you or even the way they smell, their perfume captivating your imagination.

But at the end of the day you aren't really satisfied by these young women, you don't know their names, their histories, their attitudes or their ages. That's why you like them. Some would say that a woman looks great and attractive to you, until you find away into her mind, you delve deeper and find hidden truths and problems that turn you against her. No matter how good she looks, in the blink of an eye she can become someone you never imagined, someone you would have never dreamt of, spoke of or even thought of.

You know that one day, one young woman who you meet will captivate your imagination. Not just for the way she walks, the way she talks, wiggles her hips or smiles at you but for who she is, inside all that dress up and make up. It's a funny and exciting world out there, without women you know you wouldn't get up in the morning, you wouldn't do your hair or go on the internet.

Women make the world go round, you know it's true and you love it.

A smile from a stranger

One thing that comes with being a Student is the need to use public transport.

As you walk towards the bus stop you see a group of people, some sat down, some stood up some listening to 'Ipods' or 'MP3 Players and some chatting away to 'friends' or companions. You know you are going to be at this bus stop for awhile as you have grossly miscalculated how long it would take you to walk from your house to town, therefore you make a b-line for a wall that is ring fencing a set of lovely plants that the County Council had forgot about.

You first start to look at the group of school children, some you perceive to be about sixteen and other around a year younger. They are laughing, giggling and shouting but one of them seems to catch your eye, she seems to be lifeless. She isn't joining in, she isn't laughing and she doesn't seem to be breathing, she's stood at the edge, no one is noticing her. As you look at her you create your own image of her life, her troubles and her problems, thinking how you could help her solve them and bring her back to life.

You start to think to yourself that you should go up to her and start a conversation, tell her she looks beautiful today and that a smile can make her feel so much better. You're a confident lad around women, no one will deny that, but one thing you don't want to do is scare her and make her feel worse than she looks to be feeling.

A bus arrives at the stop and her 'friends' get on, she is about to follow them but she looks right at you, directly into your eyes. You smile at her and nod your head, hoping that she will smile back and acknowledge your gesture, expecting her to tell you to 'get Lost!' but in more profane terms.

What you hoped happens, she smiles at you with both her eyes and her mouth, she then waves and does a little dance with her feet. She then gets onto the bus and it moves away, away from you and the cold of the day's air. You realise that you will most likely never see her again in your life time, or in any other lifetime but you feel satisfied that your smile, a smile from a stranger might just have saved her life and saved the life of her family.

A person commits suicide every fourteen minutes, if everyone smiled at three strangers a day and meant it, maybe that number would be one suicide every hour. No one is asking you to send two thousand pounds to Bangladesh or to venture to Nepal to save millions.

You should do what you can with what you have.
